About
The South Bay Association of Insurance Professionals (SBAIP) is a Local Association of the International Association of Insurance Professionals and serves its members by providing professional education, job opportunities, networking and fellowship.
In 1964, South Bay Chapter of the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW) was formed as a local association of NAIW under the name “Insurance Women of Inglewood” with sponsorship from Insurance Women of Los Angeles (now Insurance Professionals of Los Angeles/IPLA) and Insurance Women of Long Beach (no longer a Chartered Association). Our First President and founder, Gwen Snyder, personally accepted our Charter presented to her at the NAIW Region VIII Conference in 1965. As a new and struggling organization, the Independent Insurance Agents of Inglewood were kind enough to pay her expenses as a token of their faith in our success as an organization.
The South Bay Chapter of NAIW voted to change our name to South Bay Association of Insurance Professionals. By doing this, we are EMPOWERING OUR FUTURE, ENCOMPASSING CHANGE and EMBRACING OUR HISTORY as we continue to strengthen and enforce our commitment to insurance education, skills enhancement and professional development.
South Bay’s Continuing Education Program remains strong after 25 years – each class we hold satisfies the rigorous continuing education requirements of the California Department of Insurance and we are an authorized Continuing Education Provider registered with the Department of Insurance.
On May 16, 2015 we celebrated 50 years of association history “Honoring Our Past and Present…Empowering Our Future.” Our commitment to our membership and local insurance professionals in the South Bay area will continue to grow and thrive. We are proud of our accomplishments over the past 50 years.
